If you haven’t already, you must skip on over to www.lunchinabox.net. My friend Connie emailed me a link to it when she found out I was starting to blog about food. Biggie, a mom based in San Francisco, came up with the idea for the blog because she wanted to prepare quick, nutritious, attractive meals for her three-year old. Having lived in Japan for many years, she draws inspiration from her experiences living there and her stash of Japanese cookbooks by coming up with the most innovative Bento box lunches. What I like about the site is that she incorporates other cuisine into her Bento boxes as well.
Imagine preparing (and eating) ba-on like these!

The site also has links to the best places to buy your Bentos. Eyeluvit!

It would be so awesome if someone made bento box lunches like that for me to take to work.

Okay, I just peeked at the bentolunch lady’s website. Holy bejeezus that seems like a lot of work. Making those rice ball things with specially cut seaweed and a row of edamame? I think my future children will be lucky to get ham sandwiches. Pasta frittata?! I barely have time to brush my teeth in the morning, much less make an uber-cute meal for a 3 y/o. Props to biggie for making the effort. Maybe I should rethink procreating.

if someone prepared baon for me like that, i would look forward to lunchtime everyday. or at best, i’d get distracted the whole morning thinking of my baon. it’s that interesting for me!

I would love to learn how to do that! But I’ll probably just catch extra zzz’s and throw everything in the kit. These things take so much time to do. Unless you’re an expert! Or the Flash.

Yummy! Yummy! Yummy! They all look too good to eat. Maybe when my baby starts going to school, I’ll try to prepare something like this.

Jen,
Bento lady has prep times on each of the boxes she makes. They average between 12-15 minutes! How is that possible, though? I think you’d have to be cooking a lot and have stuff ready to go. But, she’s so good at those boxes. Yum.
Odette,
Hello again! I hop over to your site from time to time and see how creative you are. I bet you can be crafty in the kitchen too!
Toni,
Actually, ako rin. Even if I like cooking — those Bento boxes are a bit much-even for me!
Jayme,
May your little one come just in time for you to make her/him yummy baon like these!
