It’s called Softie Sweet, and is a “decorative cushion cake kit” cooked up by Rani, an OTIS College Of Art And Design student. I saw it at that art show I wrote about a couple of entries back, and it was my favorite toy design among the many that I saw. It’s ingenious, fun and makes me wish I was a kid again!
It’s a basic round felt box that’s also storage for all these “cake” pieces (different types of fruit, pretend tufts of cream, a second cake tier, etc.), that you can take out and attach to the felt cake as decor. It has Velcro on the bottom of the pieces, so you can detach and arrange the pieces however fancy strikes you.

Rani had conceptual designs for other baked goods too - like cupcakes and pies, etc.
Eyeluvit!

This looks so cute.
Kids nowadays have the best toys. Sometimes I’m tempted to buy some for myself just to relive the experience.

Odette
- The toys were only prototypes, none were on sale. And I’m answering your meme soon!
Jen
- I will give you a fake cushion cake on your next birthday. Haha.
Gracey
- Adorable, yes? I wish I had a toy like that when I was growing up!
Jayme
- Thanks for visiting! I’d love to buy one for myself too.
Caryn
- Yes, the fringes come off so you can have a field day “decorating” the cake every which way. Neat, huh?
Toni
- I heard about the reunion! The news made me miss Manila very much. Yes, I’m on Facebook, though I haven’t gone to my page in ages. You’ve reminded me to update it!
